Unlook · Healthy screen habits

Better breaks, quietly arranged around your work.

Unlook is a calm, intelligent screen-wellness companion for people who spend much of their working day in front of a computer — a system that knows when to step forward, and when to disappear.

In development · macOS & Windows planned at launch · local-first by design

Unlook doesn’t interrupt your work.
It improves the way you work.

A day with Unlook

A system that earns its interruptions

Most break tools are timers with an alarm attached. Unlook is built the other way around: it watches for the right moment, asks quietly, and makes the break itself worth taking.

  1. 01

    Unlook counts your focus

Start a session and work. Unlook counts valid focus time while you are at the keyboard — without reading your screen, your applications, or your keystrokes.

  2. 02

    An invitation, not an alarm

When a break falls due, a small invitation settles at the top of your screen. It never steals focus, never repeats, and after ten minutes it simply leaves — the miss recorded as a fact, not a failure.

  3. 03

    Twenty seconds somewhere else

Start, and the Bead opens into a full-display Moment: a calm field that asks you to look somewhere far away. Pause it, make it small, or end it early — every path is honest.

  4. 04

Back exactly where you left off

When the Moment resolves, your windows are revealed in place and focus returns to whatever you were doing. Today records what happened — facts, never a score.

The invitation arrives without taking keyboard focus, and the countdown is availability — not a deadline you have failed to meet.

Twenty seconds are waiting for you.
Done. That is seven today.
Eight seconds is still eight seconds.

Built with care

Small decisions, made carefully

  • Sessions & schedules

Balanced, 20-20-20, or Custom — with working days, working hours, and quiet time built into the rhythm.

  • Natural pauses

Step away from the desk for long enough and that counts as your break. No nagging, and nothing waiting to be made up.

  • One invitation at a time

Snoozing never stacks reminders up. You are told when the same invitation returns — and nothing else arrives in between.

  • Every display, one Moment

One calm surface reaches across all of your screens at once, and steps aside the moment you ask it to.

  • Today & History

Focus time, Unlook Moments, longest stretch — and a checkable record you can open, correct, or delete.

  • Light, dark & accessible

Light and dark themes, high-contrast and reduced-motion equivalents, full keyboard operation, and text scaling to 225%.

Local-first

“Unlook is local-first. The focus schedule, sessions, opportunities, Moments, outcomes, settings, and meaningful wellness history stay on the device.”

— Unlook’s data-flow contract

Stays on your device

Your history lives in a local database with verified backups and a portable export. Reading, exporting, and deleting it keep working even after a subscription ends.

Never observed

Unlook is designed never to read window titles, URLs, documents, or keystrokes — its engine counts focus without knowing what you are working on.

Quiet by default

Remote crash reports and analytics are separate, unchecked choices. Trying Unlook starts no tracking at all.
